Fintech

Financial software where every cent is accounted for and every action leaves a trace.

Customer apps, ledgers, payment integrations and operations tooling for fintech products, built with regulation-aware engineering.

What makes fintech software different

  • Money must reconcile

Balances, fees and provider reports have to agree exactly, which rules out floating-point shortcuts and mutable history.

  • Many external dependencies

Banks, card processors, identity-check vendors and data providers each fail in their own ways.

  • Operations need control

Support and finance teams need tools to review, approve and correct without direct database access.

  • Change is constrained

Audit expectations and partner requirements mean releases and data changes must be traceable.

Technical considerations we plan for

  • Integer money and explicit currency

Amounts stored in minor units with an ISO currency, with documented rounding rules.

  • Append-only ledger design

Corrections are new entries, so history is never rewritten and balances can be rebuilt.

  • Idempotent payment flows

Retries and duplicate webhooks cannot create double postings.

  • Onboarding and verification flows

Document collection and status handling around third-party identity-check providers.

  • Reconciliation tooling

Automated matching against provider files, with a queue for exceptions.

  • Audit trails and access control

Staff actions are permissioned and recorded with who, what and when.

Systems fintech products typically connect to

  • Payment processorsCards, wallets and bank rails.
  • Banking and open-banking APIsAccount data and payment initiation, where available.
  • Identity verification vendorsDocument and liveness checks.
  • Accounting and ERP systemsJournal entries and invoices.
  • Notification providersEmail, SMS and push for transactional messages.

How we approach a fintech build

  1. Map money flows

Who holds funds, when, and which party is responsible at each step.

  2. Define states and failures

Payment, transfer and onboarding states are modelled with their failure modes.

  3. Build the ledger and core flow

The money-moving path is built and tested first, against provider sandboxes.

  4. Add operations tooling

Review queues, approvals and reconciliation arrive before launch.

Engineering practices, not certifications

  • Role-based access and audit logs

Sensitive actions are limited by role and recorded in an audit log.

  • Secrets and key handling

Credentials live in a secret store, are scoped per integration and can be rotated.

  • Backups and restore tests

Data is backed up and restoration is rehearsed.

Typical timeline for a fintech MVP

Typical durations for this kind of work. Real timing depends on scope, integrations and how quickly decisions are made. Partner onboarding can add time outside our control.

  1. Discovery and flow mapping

    2 to 4 weeks

Money flows, partners, states and scope.

  2. Core build

    10 to 20 weeks

Ledger, key flows, integrations and operations tools.

  3. Pilot

    3 to 6 weeks

Limited release with monitoring and reconciliation.

Fintech questions

Do you handle regulatory compliance?

We build with regulation-aware engineering. Which rules apply to your product and market must be confirmed with your own legal and compliance advisers. We can build the controls and records your advisers specify, but we do not provide legal advice or certification.

Will you store card data?

We design checkout and card capture so card details go directly to the payment provider rather than your servers. Your exact obligations depend on your setup and should be confirmed with your provider.

Can you integrate with our bank or processor?

Usually, if they offer an API or file exchange. Their onboarding and sandbox access often determine the schedule, so we raise those dependencies early.
